Most freshmen head off to college with excitement, high hopes, and rosy expectations, but about one in three won’t return for their sophomore years. Colleges and universities are not required to report how many failures contribute to the 29 to 30 percent of college students who leave school during or after their first year. But there’s no doubt that college can be tough, particularly for freshmen.
